FAQs
Linh Nguyen answers your eyelash extension FAQs
How are eyelash extensions applied?
Lash extension are applied as you rest comfortably on an aesthetic bed with your eyes closed. Relaxation is key to ensuring a smooth application process. Some clients even fall asleep during the application and awake to exquisite, voluminous lashes.
Please arrive to your lash appointments with clean, dry lashes, free of eyes make-up and oils. Do not curl or perm your lashes or apply eye creams or mascara the day before and the day of your appointment. Please refrain from drinking excessive fluids or caffeinated beverages on the day of your appointment.
What should I do before my appointment?
Please come to your appointment with NO make-up or mascara on. This reduces the time it takes to get started on the application so we can get right to the exciting part!
How far in advance should I book my eyelash extension appointment in Toronto before my wedding or traveling?
If this is your first application of lash extensions we recommend booking a full-set about 6 – 8 weeks before your wedding date or departure date. This will allow time to experiment with different sets, learn proper care and ensure that you have no allergies to the lashes or adhesive. Once you are confident in your ideal set, we will book a fill one week before your wedding or departure date to ensure that your lashes are perfect.
How long will my eyelash extensions last?
On average, lash extensions last anywhere from 5 to 6 weeks, and up to 8 weeks depending on the extension style and technique and the shedding pattern of your natural lashes. Typically, the lash growth cycle is every 60 – 90 days.
We recommend that you come in for a refill within 2-4 weeks to maintain the shape and fullness of your lashes.
Are there any risks associated with eyelash extensions?
With any application, a very small percentage of clients may have an allergic reaction to the extensions. However, our bonding agent and lashes are of the highest grade to ensure that they are suitable for those who may have sensitive eyes. If you do have any allergies specifically relating to any ingredients in beauty products, kindly let your technician know and she will proceed accordingly.
How do I take care of my eyelash extensions?
Eyelash extensions are low maintenance compared to daily mascara, but they are not maintenance-free. To keep them looking full and lasting longer, gently wash daily with a lash cleanser, pat dry, and brush through with a clean spoolie. Avoid oil-based eye products, rubbing your eyes, and sleeping face-down. For the complete routine our Toronto clients follow, see our Aftercare Guide.
Can I still wear mascara and curl my lashes?
We generally do not recommend wearing mascara because when it is not properly removed it can create build-up on lashes and the lash line. This can lead to quicker shedding of lashes.
It is a big no-no to curl lashes after an application, since the curler will ruin the shape of your extensions and damage the adhesive.
What are signs of an incorrect eyelash extension application?
Many times we have had customers tell us that they’ve had eyelash extensions done previously and they were very uncomfortable and did not like them. The following are ways you can tell whether an application has been incorrectly applied:
- The adhesive is visible
- There are missing eyelashes (large, visible gaps due to improper application) between lashes
- The lashes feel uncomfortable
Will lash extensions from Beyond Beauty cause natural lashes to fall out?
No. Our highly trained eyelash technicians take proper precautions during the application, and with proper maintenance on your part your extensions will remain adhered to your lashes until they fall out naturally.
Are eyelash extensions for everyone?
While eyelash extensions are suitable for nearly everyone, they may not be for people who:
- Have a condition called Trichotillomania, resulting from compulsive pulling or twisting of the hair, brows or in this case, eyelashes
- Have a tendency to rub their eyes a lot
- Have an eyelid or eye condition
- Are in regular contact with chlorine
Can I swim, shower, exercise, or visit a spa while wearing eyelash extensions?
Yes you can! If your overall maintenance is upheld you can shower, swim and exercise as you normally would.
Can I wear makeup if I get eyelash extensions?
Yes! You can certainly wear makeup, just as long as it’s oil-free and you remove it properly every night. Talk to your technician about water-based mascara approved for lash extensions.
Will I be able to feel eyelash extensions just like fake eyelashes?
With high-quality lashes that are properly adhered, you shouldn’t be able to feel a thing!
What is a lash lift and how is it different from eyelash extensions?
A lash lift is a gentle treatment that curls your own natural lashes upward for 6 to 8 weeks, giving you bright, open-looking eyes without any extensions, glue, or daily curling. Unlike eyelash extensions, which add length and fullness by attaching individual extensions to each natural lash, a lash lift simply enhances what you already have. At Beyond Beauty in Toronto, both services are available. Many clients try a lash lift as a low-maintenance alternative to extensions.
How long does a lash lift and tint last?
A lash lift and tint at Beyond Beauty in Toronto typically lasts 6 to 8 weeks, depending on your natural lash growth cycle and aftercare. There is no daily upkeep needed, just keep the lashes clean and avoid heavy oil-based products around the eye area. Once your lashes return to their natural state, you can book another lift to refresh the curl.
How much do eyelash extensions cost in Toronto?
At Beyond Beauty in Toronto, eyelash extension sets start at $150 for a Flirty Set, with Soft Set at $185, Natural Set at $245, and Full Volume Set at $325. Touchups and refills start at $110. Eyelash extension removal is $50. Each set is fully customized to your eye shape, face, and lifestyle, so your stylist will recommend the right option during your consultation.
Do you offer eyelash extension removal in Toronto?
Yes, Beyond Beauty offers safe eyelash extension removal in Toronto for $50. Whether you are taking a break from extensions, switching to a lash lift, or had a bad experience at another salon, our team gently removes your extensions without harming your natural lashes. The process takes about 30 minutes and is available by appointment.
Do you take outside fills if my eyelash extensions were done at another salon?
Yes, we welcome outside fills at Beyond Beauty in Toronto, but we book them as a longer 90-minute appointment. We need extra time because we don’t know how the previous extensions were applied, what condition they’re in, or how clean the work is underneath. If we find the original application was not done well, we may recommend a full removal first so we can give you the best results going forward. Mention during booking that your original set was done elsewhere.
Are your eyelash extensions safe for sensitive eyes?
At Beyond Beauty, we treat every client’s eyes as sensitive because the eye area is delicate by nature. We use premium products and take care to make every application comfortable. If you have had a reaction to lash adhesive in the past, please contact us before booking and we can arrange a small test patch in advance.
